Tony's Tips
Fermentation stopper (Potassium Sorbate) is effective in stabilising the wine to guard against a further fermentation in the bottle. Simply dissolve the suggested measure in a small warmed, (gently microwaved is OK) cup of the wine and mix it into the main vessel stirring occasionally over three days prior to de-gassing and finally bottling.
This grade of Potassium Sorbate (known in the food industry as E202) is also suitable for, and widely used as a preservative (Parabens) in the manufacture of Cosmetics and Pharmaceutical Products that inhibits the growth of Micro-organisms and increases shelf life, especially for personal skin care products, including Make-up, Shampoos, Toothpaste, Moisturisers, Shower Gel, Shaving Cream, Skin Cream and Personal Lubricants etc. Another common use for this product is as an Anti-Mould and Yeast Inhibitor, Preservative for Natural Vegetable and Fruit Juices, other Dried Fruit Products, Cheese and Yogurts and many other Commercial and Home-Made Food and Drink Products.
